Oct 2024 – A haiku about inflation
Prices ebb and flow
If you don’t buy, you won’t know
A house you can’t forego
Oct 2024 – An ode (really a sonnet) to inflation
Shall I compare thee to history?
When inflation rates started with four or five
And economists declared victory,
Forgetting we need to spend to stay alive
So why’s the Fed’s goal, two percent to keep,
To stabilize prices, where they don’t soar,
And maximize employment, not too low or deep,
A delicate balance so we roar
What we see today
Eyes the Fed’s prize, unlike the past,
Doesn’t mean we still won’t pay
For prices slow, yet seem to last.
Inflation’s now at two-point-six,
But lower still’s the needed fix
